Hello, hello! I’m breaking a bit from my normal format to join in on a lil’ bit o’ fun with my fellow writer-bugs from Critique Circle. Emily Layne (check out her blog post about it here!) suggested doing a Blog Hop to meet other writers-in-the-trenches who will be participating in the horror that is NaNoWriMo. I figured I’d jump on that bandwagon (as I am so wont to do) because it’s fun and collaborative, and hey! I know the more I invest in this challenge the more likely I am to succeed at it… that or face all that shame shame shame. So here’s a hello and a howdy to all you NaNo-ites out there!
My penname is K.B. Wylie. I have no idea what I’m doing here, but I like to think that I’m learning quickly. I also hate to admit that I tend to love the movies better than the books, but am a sucker for a good story no matter the medium. Although a bit of a nerd, I’m big into the outdoors a la hiking, camping, and backpacking and get cabin-fever after being cooped up inside for too long.
I’ve already been working on my sci-fi thriller “Transgressor’s Brand” for awhile now, but I’m hoping that NaNoWriMo will be the swift kick in the tuckus that catapults me towards wrapping things up sooner rather than later. I anticipate it ended up being something like 70k words. My goal for November? Get as much done as possible without doing crap work in the process (but not slowing down too much to edit like I usually do). Do I think I’ll hit the big five-O thousand words within thirty days? Well, that’d be a big fat NO. But a big bite out of that word count is going to make me a happy camper no matter what!
On my writerly quest, I’m always looking for allies (in need of a tank, stat!) so hit me up on twitter, facebook, instagram, et al if you’re looking for a full party (though does anyone else really get G+? I’m baffled). I’d love to share in your own NaNo struggles and victories with you!
